A dream of heat is washed away in the piercing light slung up by the snow.
Battle-winning light forces back the trappings of winter today, but the conflict continues tomorrow.
Color, governed by the surface tension of water, thinned or thickened, flat or beaded, always flat in the end, yet still rounded to the eye.
Snow thickly hushes the world, refrigerators hum loudly, the internet slows.

My body has finally caught on to everything my mind has been hiding from itself during this week of deadlines and tests.

The gray of the day / is chasing away / the the dark of the heart / of the night of the mark / of the way we pace / and tests we must face.
Sundown. All the darks are darker, and the darker sky gloams brighter.
In the face of frostburn / I miss the waving leaves. / I know they will return, / yet my dermis grieves.
The cold wind bludgeons the brightness of the flood of light.
